At Samudāy Studios we understand the importance of minimising our environmental impact and are committed to giving back to communities. We manage our footprint by creating small collections of high-quality Knitwear with longevity, acting against fast fashion.
Commitment to sourcing ethical materials
Creating with the environment in mind, we prioritise the use of biodegradable materials with natural fibres. We also craft with dead stock yarns to reduce waste and effectively minimise our impact.
Small Scale Production
In response to harmful fast fashion, we do not produce surplus items as we only create what is in demand using our request forms.
This is to ensure that we are not buying excess raw materials (leading to waste) and adding to the over-production problems in the industry. Our primary production is in both the United Kingdom and Turkey. Production in Turkey enables us to coordinate our production runs in line with our community workshops and interventions, in collaboration with Aceso Global Health Consultants.
Operating on a small scale and managing our simple supply chains on a personal level allows us to be within close proximity to our products. We have chosen our factories based on the safeguarding in place and evidence of fairtrade to ensure we sustain our vision of an ethical working environment.
Our factory in Turkey has had an organic production certificate (GOTS) since 2011 and complies with the world's most reliable social auditing standards (BSCI-Astra). The company has adopted the principle of providing quality services with respect, honesty, business ethics and establishing reliable and strong relationships with their customers in all areas of their activity.
Our micro Knitwear Design studio in Scotland consists of a handful of manufacturers who ethically produce our items in small quantities.
Being a CIC (Community Interest Company), we pledge to re-invest 70% of our profits back into community interventions in both low and high-income communities across the globe, in collaboration with Aceso Global Health Consultants.
Our designs are mostly inspired by children’s drawings from our collaboration with the Aceso Creative Arts Programme. Our aim is to let children’s creativity flourish in an engaging environment as well as provide support for their communities.
You have 7 days from the date you receive your order, to return anything to us within our guidelines for an exchange or refund.
To do so, simply follow the instructions below:
1. Complete the return form and enclose it in the parcel with the item(s) you wish to return. Use the original packaging if possible (we recommend to use Royal Mail-Tracked for the shipping).
2. Write ‘return’ and your order number on the outside of the parcel.
3. Make sure you keep your proof of postage receipt for tracking your parcel online.
4. Send us an email to email@example.com attaching the form and the tracking number. We’ll drop you an email when your return has been processed. This can take up to 14 working days.
We have the right to refuse a refund if the item is returned to us in an unsatisfactory condition or do not meet our return guidelines which are detailed on the form. Returns need to be made unwashed, unworn and with their original tags untampered with and intact. Any hang tags that have been removed will not not qualify for return. Any signs of wear, accidental damage and clothing that has been altered in any way, doesn’t qualify. Please be considerate when purchasing our items we are a small independent business and items are created on a made to order basis which take a lot longer to produce than other larger companies. Our returns policy is in place for our protection and cannot make any exemptions.
You may exchange your item for a different item at a similar price if the exchange is made within the 14 day exchange window. All shipping costs will not be refunded. We're unable to refund any customs charges paid on the original parcel.
Our role in your privacy
If you contact us, provide services to us, visit our website, request information from us, or provide us with unsolicited information, we may act as the ‘data controller’ of your personal data. This means we determine how and why your data is processed, and are legally responsible for the personal data we collect and hold about you. We are registered as a data controller at the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
